Christmas and New Year at Bruern
Christmas is a
celebration at Bruern. Its impossible not to feel festive,
when you open the holly wreathed door of your cottage to a
drawing room garlanded with holly and ivy. In pride of place
is your own Christmas tree decorated with baubles and lights,
underneath which lie presents for the children, exquisitely
wrapped. (We ring parents earlier to find out the sort of
things they like.) The fire is waiting to be lit so that children
can send their letters to Santa up the chimney. And if youd
rather decorate you own tree, we can have the wherewithal,
unless of course youd prefer to bring your own.
There are bowls
of nuts and Satsumas, mince pies and an impressive Christmas
log cake, plus white Burgundy, vintage claret and champagne
for the grown ups to get them in the swing. Fabulously chic
toiletries from the White Company and a scented candle adds
to the Christmas spirit.
Pre-ordered food
for Christmas dinner will be in the fridge turkey,
goose or pheasants and as always theres a menu
of Emma and Kens frozen food to choose from so that
cooking doesnt become a chore. (Theres also a
list of local restaurants, from grand country hotels to cosy
little country pubs, for you to try if you want to explore
the surrounding villages. Always book well ahead for Christmas
meals
though.)
New Year at Bruern
is just as festive and welcoming as Christmas and all the
same goodies await our guests except the childrens Christmas
presents. If you want to avoid post-Christmas anticlimax and
celebrate the start of another wonderful year, Bruern is the
place to be.
