Birthday Treat Activities

What to do at the weekend, What's on at the weekend?

Often a planned special birthday treat experience is a far better gift than a nicely wrapped tangible birthday present.

Blits Hill Victorian Town

An individual might be delighted with a hot air balloon flight, or indeed a flying lesson, but sometimes it is good to do something as a group.

It might be that a theatre trip to see Mary Poppins is a treat for all, but what better than building a fun packed day of surprises. As an example, our weekend family's two girls birthdays are both in May and there is only a couple of years difference between their ages.

The big secret was taking them to London's West End Theatre to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the show was going to be a total surprise. Tickets booked and the day was confirmed, so it was time to build a birthday treat experience.

It was decided that you couldn't go to London without a visit to the London Eye. As part of the experience, the London Eye booking office also run a Thames River boat cruise to compliment the London Eye experience.

The Rain Forest Café have a deal with their local NCP car park that if you have a meal there, you only pay £5.00 to park all day Sunday, that is a bargain for London!

So, two lucky birthday girls think they are popping into London for the London Eye Experience, little do they know that they are going on a Thames riverboat trip, best seats that the theatre to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang followed by a slap up meal at the Rain Forest Café.

Another birthday experience was not as extravagant but equally well received. A £10 per room per night at a Travelodge in Telford and a whole day a Blists Hill Victorian Living Museum. This is a real step back in time, not just the price of the motel, but the experience in Blists Hill.

Situated in Ironbridge and based on a typical industrial village, upon entering the year 1890, you are met with an original Lloyds bank where you can change your money into pre-decimal. From there you begin an experience you will retell for years. Visit the butchers and bakers, taste the bread and cakes, talk to the shopkeepers, pop into the doctors surgery, meet the village constable, cape and all!
